Where is the serial number for my safe?

Your serial number is located on the bottom right hand corner on the front of the safe. It can also be found on the right wall on the outside of the safe. It can be found on a silver sticker and usually contains 6 to 10 digits.

Where can I find the key number for my safe?

  • Etched onto the key itself.
  • Etched onto the lock cylinder.
  • Underneath the black plastic cap that says digital electronic safes.
  • The silver sticker on the bottom right hand corner of the Anti-Theft Safes.
  • On the key cover.

My digital keypad doesn't seem to work and my safe is locked.

  • The batteries may be weak, try changing those.
  • Use your square top override key that came with your safe for immediate access. Contact Customer Service for further assistance.

My key isn't broken, but it doesn't work in the safe.

It's possible that some debris/dust is caught in the lock. Here are a few possible solutions:

  • Check the engraved key number and verify that it matches the engraved letter on the key cylinder.
  • Apply WD-40 oil in the lock.
  • Tap it lightly with a hammer.
  • Try the key again. If the key still does not work, please contact Customer Service and they will send you a replacement key free of charge.

  • Lay your First Alert Safe on the right hand side then using the override key open the door.
